Understanding and Implementing Preventive Services in Primary Care Practice Western Caribbean Cruise

Learning objectives:

To update primary care physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, and practice staff on the latest evidence and approaches to practice implementation for preventive services (PS). Emphases will be on A&B recommendations of the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSFT), controversial USPSTF recommendations, immunization recommendations from the Center for Disease Control Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), patient education about lung cancer screening, and applying primary care research findings and behavioral science findings on human decision making to organize practice approaches and motivate patients to adhere with PS. The course will address all six competencies required of medical practitioners: medical knowledge, patient care, interpersonal and communication skills, systems-based practice, practice-based learning and improvement, and professionalism.
